Equilateral Triangle Knitting and Design

9 am -12 pm, cost is $80.00, Experienced beginners upwards. May 16


Learn to knit equal sided triangles and how to modify the size of the triangles. We will take a close look at knitting-up stitches and right and left slanting decreases and the various methods of making them. From this base we'll add further triangular units into a preplanned strip. Folding and assembly of the strip, with a revision of the necessary finishing techniques (Mattress stitch and setting stitches to rows). Designing with triangular units and thinking in three dimensions. Variations of patterns, stripes and texture. Creating hexagons and planning patchwork style projects. Triangles are ideal portable knitting. Supplies: 20g each of Dk/Sport weight or heavier (5 or fewer stitches per inch) in several colors, DPNs in a size appropriate to your yarn, scissors, blunt needles and usual knitting paraphernalia.





Almost Saintly Knitting - It’s So HOLEY!

1pm -4 pm, cost is $80.00 Intermediate skill level. May 16


We'll take a look at single and double yarn-ove lace holes and a series of different methods of making larger holes and how they can be employed to give a varity of effects. We'll look at using waste yarn to create openings, with a crochet chain to hold the edges and the versatility of the marvellous scallop hole, which may be used for an all over fabric, for detailing and as a method for increasing and decreasing. How to handle multiple yarn overs and create new stitches. Even if you don't currently plan to make holes on your knitting, there are many useful mainstream spinoffs for these techniques. Supplies: Double pointed or circular needls in a size to suit your yarn, smooth worsted weight yarns in at least two bright, solid colors, crochet hook, scissors and your usual knitting paraphernalia.

May 11, 25, June 8, 6- 8 pm, $45 plus the cost of the pattern, taught by Martha Lyons


This is a great light weight sweater just in time for Spring and Summer. In this seires of classes martha will teach you how to shape with decreases and increses, how to knit short-rows, pick up stitches, and seam. This is an easy intermediate project for adventurous beginners and beyond.






Fleece Lace Shawl

May 12, 19, 26, 6-8pm, $60.00, taught by Jan Cornelius


This beautiful and light weight shawl can also be knitted as a smaller scarf. The fun is that it is created from two different but similar lace patterns and two different but coordinating yarns. Change yarns and patterns whenever the mood strikes. Perfect for a fun and fascinating summer project.

Flowing and flattering lightweight intarsia jacket, Bayarri, is made from Berroco Lindsey in 3 generous sizes of 50-58" from two different variegated colors of lightweight cotton and linen at an easy 5 sts per inch. Skill level: Intermediate












Baby Bobi Bear

June 2, 9, 16, 23, 6-8pm $60, taught by Jan and Cherie


Amazingly adorable Teddy Bear that has everyone enchanted. Not only is he fun to make, but you will learn new skills and how to use double pointed needles!






Crochetting

Beginning July 7th Thur and continuing for six weeks through August 11th Thur, a brand new workshop The Joy Of Crochet will be presented. This in-depth exploration of everything crochet will cover all the basic stitches and skills, as well as how to read a crochet pattern and using charted crochet, motifs such as Granny Squares and the all important "keeping your edges straight" and gauge. We will also make a flower or two. How to chose an appropriate pattern for a crochet garment will also be discussed along with shaping skills. You will have guidance in choosing and getting a good start on a personal project during the last two sessions.
The cost for this class is $95 taught by Jan Cornelius. This class is for every Thursday from July 7th till August 11th. 6-8pm


Weaving

Beginning Weaving

May 15, Sun 9:30-4:30 p.m. $75 plus $30 for loom rental, taught by Karen Hodge


In this all day class you will learn the basics of weaving. You will complete your very own woven scarf that all of your friends will love!


Double Heddle Weaving

June 12, Sun 9:30am - 4:00 pm, $75.00 taught by Karen Hodge


For this class you must have taken Beginning Weaving, own your own loom and stand, purchase a second 7.5 heddle and the second heddle kit from Yarn Lady which will be attached in class. (There is no loom rental for this class.) In this class you will experince the magic of weaving with a double heddle making a soft, finer gauge scarf.

Spinning

Beginning Drop Spindle

May 17, Tues, 6- 7:30pm, $35 taught by Karen Hodge


Always dreamed of making your own yarn...We'll this is the class for you! Karen will teach you how to master the skill of using a drop spindle to create your own handspun yarn.

Intro to Spinning on a Spinning Wheel

June 14, 6- 7:30pm, $35 taught by Karen Hodge


Yarn Lady will have Spinning Wheels set up for you to come and experince the joy of spinning your own yarn on a spinning wheel.

Dyeing


Dye Your Own Unique Yarn

May 11 or June 1 or July 6, 5-8 pm, $45, taught by Jan Cornelius


Learn to create original hand dyed yarn beginning with basic white yarn. All supplies, including enough yarn for one wonderful project, are included. Look over the beautiful selection of dyeable yarns available at Yarn Lady and take your new-found skills even further. Many have taken this workshop more than once because it is so much fun and rewarding. You may purchase extra yarn to use in class.

Knitting


Creature Comforts Cardi, by Madelinetosh

March 30th, April 13th, 20, 27 and May 4th, Wed, 6-8 p.m., $75, Jan Cornelius Amy Hendrix designed this oversized, cozy cardigan with an elegant maple leaf center back design. Optional pockets, cable motifs and a variety of sizing options make this cardi one of a kind. Pattern calls for worsted weight yarn. This is a 5 week workshop.

Knitting


Personal Footprint Socks
January 22nd & 29th, 3-6 p.m. $60 or February 13th, 10-4 p.m. $60
This workshop is taught directly from our attendance at Cat Bordhi's lessons on how to make a "discovery sock" using a cardboard cut out of your very own foot. These socks are fun and easy! They are knitted with worsted weight yarn and one sock can probably be completed that day! Basic knitting skills required.


Jordan Lace Top
February 2nd, 9th, 16th & March 2nd, 6-8 p.m. $65
Lace is a wonderful trend for spring and summer. Make this linen top in a 4 week workshop and be ready for warm weather. Each week you will learn a new lace technique ending with finishing skills for completion of the top. This pattern is written for a wide range of sizes. Basic knitting skills required. Introduction to Enterlac

The important basics of crochet will be taught in this one night workshop. Beginners will learn how to hold the hook and yarn, along with 5 basic stitches to start crocheting easily.

Dye your own Yarn

Hands on learning for all the information you need to create your own gorgeous, colorful yarn in one session. You will go home with over 400 yards of sock weight yarn that is unique and custom "painted". All supplies included.
