Spinning Workshops

Yarn Lady is super excited to announce that the talented Lucy Neatby will be teaching two classes May 16th (Monday) for Yarn Lady!!

Equilateral Triangle Knitting and Design

3 hours Experienced beginners upwards.

9 am -12 pm, cost is $80.00

Learn to knit equal sided triangles and how to modify the size of the triangles. We will take a close look at knitting-up stitches and right and left slanting decreases and the various methods of making them. From this base we'll add further triangular units into a preplanned strip. Folding and assembly of the strip, with a revision of the necessary finishing techniques (Mattress stitch and setting stitches to rows). Designing with triangular units and thinking in three dimensions. Variations of patterns, stripes and texture. Creating hexagons and planning patchwork style projects. Triangles are ideal portable knitting. Supplies: 20g each of Dk/Sport weight or heavier (5 or fewer stitches per inch) in several colors, DPNs in a size appropriate to your yarn, sissors, blunt needles and usual knitting paraphernalia.

Almost Saintly Knitting - It’s So HOLEY!

1pm -4 pm, cost is $80.00 Intermediate skill level

We'll take a look at single and double yarn-ove lace holes and a series of different methods of making larger holes and how they can be employed to give a varity of effects. We'll look at using waste yarn to create openings, with a crochet chain to hold the edges and the versatility of the marvellous scallop hole, which may be used for an all over fabric, for detailing and as a method for increasing and decreasing. How to handle multiple yarn overs and create new stitches. Even if you don't currently plan to make holes on your knitting, there are many useful mainstream spinoffs for these techniques. Supplies: Double pointed or circular needls in a size to suit your yarn, smooth worsted weight yarns in at least two bright, solid colors, crochet hook, sissors and your usual knitting paraphernalia.
